Belgraphica Studio was started in 2003. It is owned by Mary and Tom Eckstein, of Standish, Maine. Mary teaches students ages 2 1/2 to 60+ using Suzuki and other string methodology. She encourages her students to compose and learn music theory while playing a wide variety of classical, popular, fiddle and other genres of music. She also teaches piano(classical, sacred and pop styles) and composition. In fall of 2009, instruction in beginning guitar will be added using the Suzuki methodology.
Recitals-
There are two recitals a year, in June and January. These give students a chance to perform before an audience. In addition, there is a chamber group which meets every week for an hour. There are also opportunities to play for school functions and other events, if there is interest.
Also, Mary is certified in the Wilson Reading Program, which helps students better de-code words for reading and writing. Students commonly advance 2 or more grade levels in reading in a year.
Tuition-
Tuition is based on a 36-week, 9-month schedule.
Cost for 1/2 hour lesson is $72 per month.
1 hour lesson is $136 per month.
Tuition is payable at the first lesson of the month.
Make-up days are built into the semester in the form of a 5th lesson in a month and the first 3 weeks of June are free. Other than mentioned above, there are no make-ups for lessons missed by the student. If the instructor is notified 24 hours in advance, lessons might be rescheduled if a time slot is available. Lessons cancelled by the instructor will be made up.
