Mary’s first instrument was the piano, started when she was 7. When she was 8, she started playing the cello. She continued with both instruments until her 40’s when she added the violin. Recent additions have been the viola and the mandolin. Mary has studied under Robert Lehmann, Richard Noyes, William Rounds, Julia Eiten and Alan McMurray. She has been a member of the Southern Maine Symphony since 1998 and has also conducted youth orchestras for Schoolhouse Arts Center and the Sacopee Valley Arts Center.
She is currently the President of the Maine chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association and also its web-master. She is also a member of the Maine Suzuki Association as well as the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
Mary graduated in 1975 from Manhattanville College with a BFA, and later pursued a Master’s Degree in Chinese from Seton Hall University and National Taiwan University. She is currently involved in graduate studies in Music at the University of Southern Maine.
In her spare time, she enjoys knitting, weaving, spinning, reading and cooking for her family.
